The More the Merrier..?
There is a learning curve when starting a new language. However, there is a distinct advantage in learning more than one, whether one at a time or not. Most languages share a large amount of words and some even have common sentence structures. Learning Latin will strengthen not only your English, but also French, Spanish, Italian, and others. Learning either Japanese or Chinese will allow you to recognize the meanings of many common kanji or pictographs.
